A lot of people ask me why I say CB is still a viable option for WROL or resistance communications, so I thought I'd put my ideas on paper. Sad hams will chuckle and call me a weirdo, but their goal is a hobby, mine is effective clandestine or tactical communications. We are not the same.
CB radios are the most widely available radios in the Western world. While the Baofeng and similar radios are very common, there isn't anywhere that you can walk into a store and pick one up. Sure, you can get cheap bubble-pack Cobra or Midland FRS/GMRS radios, but not a full-featured one. You can walk into any truck stop in America and find a full line of CB radios and extensive antennas. You can get both mobile and handheld units easily and pay in cash.
But let's talk about why it is a useful radio for our purposes.
